wtf is this under my carpet

theres a swith next to my leg under dash and never knew what it did, so today i checked its power but nothing, so decided to follow the wire and thats when i lifted the carpet and found this,



what do you guys think it is or was, all the wires go to one connector

I'd say that's the remains of an old stereo setup or something, certainly some after market add in given the clips.

Found a similar bundle in one of my old cars. Traced them to a connector under the seat where there was a disused CD changer, and then more cables going to the boot but not connected to anything. When I had them traced and was happy they were doing nothing, I just ripped them out.

well had a closer look and found on some of the clips it says pioneer so it maybe a sound system but maybe used the clips for something else if you know what i mean, tommoro im taking the centre console out and find out what is in there, what nt connected its coming out to be used again for some bodging

If all that stereo wire led to a switch in the dash my bet would be that it had a stereo with a TV/DVD screen at some stage. In Japan you would have to fit a switch to override the auto shut-off on the TV (legally you cannot drive with a tv screen on in Japan). Had one on a previous FTO (now Stewys).

Is that what the little red button is in the drivers footwell beside the door sill is ???.
I didn't even want to know what that was for, so tucked it back in
