Quite right rsg, something to do with the torque convertor. Lifting off the brake isn't mentioned mind you. What we need is a demo box to see how easily it can be wrecked - any takers?!

Everybody chip in for the new one and I'll do it! In the name of science of course.

Seriously though, it would be a useful test - keep the gearbox maintained in terms of oil changes etc but give it stick to see how long it lasts and what kind of activity pushes it over the edge.

On a related note, I remember seeing a video on Youtube of some fool reving a rotary engine at a constant 9krpm while stationary, it lasted a full 5 minutes before the thing blew up.

Edit: Also remember being told by the mechanic that he could get the torque convertor (I think that was the part!) remapped to provide more low end power torque.

now this has me confused :smt017 when i hear re-mapping i think engine management systems, ecu ect. but IIRC a torque converetor is a big toothed disc with several fluid caprilaries (the ones that are usually blocked when box is knackered) which push the fluid around, i can't see how that would get remapped, then again it has been over 6 years since i took my knackered box apart :?:

Daz...
Never take life seriously. Nobody gets out alive, anyway.

Its probably the wording thats throwing you off Daz, you can replace the TC with a stonger unit, I remember the FTOOC lads were talking about this a few years ago.
