My car is pulling to the left quite severley.

Postby Gerry » Mon Nov 03, 2008 7:51 pm

Hi Guys wondering if you can help,

My car is pulling to the left quite severley.

Up to now have got the car tracked, new tyres, new front drop links, front anti-roll bar bushes, new track rod ends, lower arm joints and bushes look ok.
I needed to replace a lot of the above anyway, but still car pulls to the left.
Have also played around with the wheels, problem still persists.
Could a gearbox mount cause this or maybe a rear axle bush or joint.

Any help would be great,

Cheers
Gerry

Does it pull to the left without the accelerator pressed? or only when pressed? or is it only on braking?

I know you mention you got tracking done, but did you get a full car alignment? might be worth looking into. Not that expensive and can make a big difference to your car's handling.

seconded - difference is quite staggering..

go somewhere that specialises in theses things- a large tyre/exhaust place with the proper laser gear should be able to sort you no problem.

Hard to believe you recently got the FTO tracked and it still pulls quite severely - this would have been quite apparent on the readout from the tracking machine - though some of the equipment I've seen in tyre shops leaves a LOT to be desired. Get your FTO along to a place that will do a full geometry check.

Yea got 4 wheel alignment done

Hi,

Cheers for the replies.

Yea got 4 wheel alignment done already at a specialist tyre shop,
As soon as the car is put into drive it will gradually pull to the left.
On accelaration the problem is magnified.
Dont think its braking related, brakes seem perfect.

possibly left brake disc is binding ! fto's always pull to left under heavy acceleration due to torque steer, but jack up the front left and see if it turns freely
