well... you always get "something" extra with cone filters, but I`m 100% sure its not 30 or 20... maaybeee 10.... maybe

He should be shot with his own sh1t!

No way will you see an extra 3bhp - nevermind 30bhp!

Rolling roads over the years have proved this!
I got 1 bhp extra using an ITG over a standard filter on the FTO according to the rolling road on the same day in the same conditions at Westward engineering.

Learned my leason with the Zed and introduced a carbon cold air induction to a HKS panel filter on the standard induction - the cone filters are good for sound - no major difference when it comes to bhp though despite the wild claims by aftermarket suppliers.

I wouldn't say its a waste of money - the FTO will "sound" better and you will see very slight increases in peak BHP.

So why for example on Camskills web site they say that ITG should give ~8bhp more to the engine...and they say its prooved by FTOOC.co.uk on rolling road tests. Actually not only Camskill claims that, there is a lot of suppliers in the net with a wide range of filters and they say the same (more-less  )

Maybe its just your special case with bhp increase.

very true, we went to a rolling road just after i'd bougt my red fto and it had a stock filter, and we changed it out and fitted a K&N filter it only increased by 5 bhp. so that claim is utter garbage.

My theory is this:

Standard air box has a alrigh cold air feed system setup.

Most cone filters are simply a cone which in most cases do not come with heatshield or similar - thus they will be drawing in hot air from the engine compartment - thus counter acting any real gain they may have been able to provide in the 1st place.

(Cold air good - hot air bad)

Most of the perfomance gains promise by the manufactures of cone filter aren't worth the html they're coded in - or the paper they're printed on if you're old school. You'll be lucky not to actually loose performance.
The Noise chages - for the better - and so I'm happy with my ITG filter for now..However I have ordered a shielded unit with a proper cold air feed.

If one wants a budget improvement to the air supply setup of the fto I'd suggest replacing the panel filter in the standard box. Alternatively one could pull a MacGyver (or a CJ) and get creative with wavin to create an optimised cold air supply.

2cents spent..

I agree, panel filter with proper CAI is going to offer more gains over an induction kit stuck in the engine bay. Get down to the plumbing supply shop and check out the link below:
