clank under heavy braking

Postby mcgon1979 » Wed Jun 06, 2007 4:58 pm

hi all,

Under heavy braking there is a single clank from under the car. Sounds like exhaust tapping off something? Didn't think there was much movement in the exhaust to be honest ??? Could it be something sinister, engine mounting, suspension etc etc  Or am I just freaking over nothing. It doesn't happen normally. only if I brake fairly heavily and its a single clank noise.

Cheers lads

Took my mechanic for a spin to check this out... Apparently its the brake pads!!! Thats why its only there the odd time. Sometimes I can brake heavy and nothing. Other times I tap the brakes and there is a clank. Apparently its movement of the pads. Let there be no panic. :r

Nice one, once thats all it is its grand!

Maybe it would be cured with some brake pad retaining clips? - rear, front
