More fun with Wavin

Postby CJ » Sun May 06, 2007 3:35 pm

The RX-7 runs hot. Very hot. Twin this with the fact theres virtually no way of directing cold air onto the filters and you have a problem - up until recently, my air temps have been up in the mid 40's on the move and in the 60's when in traffic (This is the problem with aftermarket ECUs - they tell you things you really don't want to know). In my quest to get intake temps, I put a temporary heat shield under the filters. I then modified an elbow off an FTOs intake and mated it up with a piece of Wavin - possibly the most versitile material on earth when it comes to modding cars, no question. This section was then fitted into the original IC air channel and directed towards the filters. I'm happy to say that the temps are now down to high 20's / low 30's on the move. I hope to make a more effective enclosure in an effort to box the filters in, watch this space. Anyone got a spare AJ knocking about?

great job CJ... It's satisfying to get the positive confirmation form the FC commander etc that its working to halve intake air temps... nice.

Looks like a neat job.
You must have no drainpipes left on the house at this stage.
