SEIZED AIRCON MOTOR?

Postby AL » Fri Apr 13, 2007 5:19 pm

my AC/power steering belt was recently changed by myself, so i was surprised to find it wearing away so soon, i went to change it this morning thinking id need to re-align pulleys, but while i was under car i realised pulleys on AC was as rough as a bears ar*s!, i took off outer V pulley...... bearing was knackered, but noticed coil inside inner bearing housing was filled with rust  ...... should this move free about AC shaft??

ive decide to bypass AC for now , but cant find a belt to do
the job 6pk 938 is too tight, 6pk 948 is too loose not enough tension available, but no motor factors do a belt that is between these....... any help available, suppose to be going away tomorrow, but not likely now

Nows a good time to take out all that Air Con muck - reduce the load on your engine and reduce the weight.

I took out all the above plus cooling fan and a very heavy bracket.

I also bypassed using the pk 938 belt - its tight but it fits.
If you REALLY want to keep an ancient air con system in place then you're more than welcome to my bin of aircon parts.
