kyb shocks

Postby power » Thu Apr 16, 2009 5:34 pm

I replaced my front two shocks with kyb's not so long ago, one of the old ones seized! and i've since put in apex lowering springs. But when driving the suspension still feels very hard and uncomfortable, i nearly have to stop for speed bumps! i've never driven any other fto and can only compare it to the girlfriend's 01 colt which is really smooth suspension wise.
Are they meant to be this hard? I was considering adjustable shocks but thought I'd ask first to see if something else could be te problem

I didn't find a lot of difference with regards to being a hard ride with kyb shocks & apex springs. The big difference was when I changed to 17" wheels with the lower profile tyre.

I've a KYB and Apex setup on mine, and while I've no doubt its not as smooth as a Colt, I don't think it's that bad. I'm sure there are softer options out there (others know the details better than me), but at the end of the day unless you really compromise on handling, i think the FTO will still have a stiff... sorry, "sporty" ride. :)

yeah forgot to factor in the 17's aswell! anyone on here got the adjustable shocks? would be interested to see what the softest setting is like, do droplinks, dampers or bump stops make any difference, and what do the adjustable pillow mounts do?
