Got mine tonight. First question, how did they get my email address and secondly who told them I had a tiptronic? Are they able to access profiles on this forum? Sorry if that sounds "thick"

This happens every so often, anyone can join up to the forum and go thru the memberlist all the while harvesting email addresses, can I suggest that you consider changing the 'Always show my e-mail address' profile option to 'No' if you don't want to fall foul to this type of marketing in the future. Its one of the very few 'spam' emails that I've received of late that was actually of any interest to me! Nonetheless, I'll be contacting the company in question regarding their 'marketing' techniques.

To be fair, it's the only one I have received as a result of this forum. I am constantly haunted by fake Paypal ones and some fake Japanese auction houses and the most recent one is my offshore Chase Bank account, (which I had completely forgotten about - silly me). :D :D :D

This has also been discussed on the FTOOC forum. Heres a copy of the mail I sent him:

Hi Dave

Yes I am interested in your product but I'm not a fan of the your 'marketing' techniques i.e. harvesting email addresses off message boards and sending a blanket email to hundreds of users. For all intents and purposes, this is spam and has been recognised as so by our members. If you're trying to sell a product to a niche group, can I suggest you post your pitch on a public forum rather sending unsolicited email. From my perspective, I feel that your advertising practices to date have already turned potential customers off your products.

Regards

In fairness, its a good looking product although I would need more info on the electrical side of things to make an informed decision.

I always fancied trying them but from the photo, it looks like it would be a bit awkard to get to the indicator stalk.

Someone here in work said they do a simliar thingy for the golf gti's which would cost u an extra 2g on a new model but it increases the acceleration from 7.3 to 6.9. Would this paddle increase the tip performance?
You know, somebody actually complimented me on my driving today. They left a little note on the windscreen, it said 'Parking Fine'.

I wouldn't think so, its not gonna change the gear ratios in any way, its tapping into the up / down change switches that are hit when you move the gear selector, pretty simple really.

I reckon they're talking about the DSG gearbox which uses two clutches so that the next gear can be preselected and ready to engage straight away.

The wifes two last cars ie Daihatsu Sirion and Citroen C3 Senso Drive have both had the paddles and she swears by them and maintains that they do not get in the way of any other controls or switches. The C3 has the stop start drive which she thinks is 'lovely' but drives me nuts ands in reality saves very little by way of fuel over the course of the year as opposed to your car running as normal in traffic
