WANTED: HID Kit

Postby StewyD32 » Fri Jul 23, 2010 12:34 am

Hey guys. Does anyone have a full HID kit (ballast, HIDs) for sale, or know where i can get a good kit on a slim budget.
Also what K is best? Seen Bernard saying 6,000K was best, but i was thinking more like a blue 8-10K

Also does anyone have a pic of where they strapped the ballasts?

There are loads of kits available on e-bay, also on RB performance & hostile performance.
Some are cheaper than others, search the forum for "really cheap HIDs".

Take a look here for a colour chart.
As for where to mount the ballasts, take a spin up to Limerick on Sunday and I'll show you

I seen that thread alright but was wondering if someone had a second hand set or a spare set lying around as im broke as always. Also im a bit weary about buying something crap on e-bay. I think 8000k are best after looking at the colour chart so will go for that anyway.

If I could make limerick on sunday I would come, but im up in Dublin at moment for my Ma's 60th on saturday night, but as I told Dragonheart if I can make it later on in the day i'll pop in. Chances are kinda low so didn't want to put my name down even provisionally, but i'll do my best

Its a matter of opinion , personally, I think that 8k hids stand out too much. 6k looks more stock and still provide plenty of light.

There are plenty of HID kits on ebay. I have fitted plenty to cars and never had a problem. Cheaper than RB performance also.
Search as suggeste above "really cheap HIDs'

seen this just now

http://cgi.ebay.ie/HID-XENON-CONVERSION-KIT-HB4-9006-6000K-8000K-GIFT-/300443996711?cmd=ViewItem&pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item45f3db9227

e-mailed him there to see if I could pick it up so it would just cost over 50 squid for the lot. Even if I can't pick it up its still cheap
What you guys think???

Got my HIDs today off the link above. He actually lives up the road from me. Got 8000k HIDs and 2 ultra bright sidelights for €60 seems there was no courier.
He also does interior light and plate lights etc, i might get some off him in a few weeks.

Re: WANTED: HID Kit

Postby escu_calin » Mon Oct 04, 2010 4:06 pm

hello

i am passing this HID phase also
i decided 6000K to be my choice; but i can not decide on the HID power

my original bulbs are 51W(at 12V) - 55W(at 14V);

So should i buy the 55 w Xenon HID upgrade kit; (i dont need High beams, only the low ones i'm after.) or the 35W?

really don't trust the commercial mambo jumbo ten times brighter etc and can not create a realistic picture of how my road ahead would look with HID's .. and don't need brighter than necessary or legally .

Does 35 W low beams satisfy you (compared to other cars and on highway condtions)?

thanks.

I think most people have 35w HIDs.
They are by far more superior than the normal ones.
I only choose 8k as I like the blue tint it gives off. Even though it produces more power it emits less light due to the wave lengths. If your getting 6k they be brighter

My HIDs I think are slot brighter than the rest on the motorway. when I'm passing then my light travells a greater distance. I rarely even put on the high beams when it's pitch black.

Hope that answers your question

escu I think youre confusing xenon replacement bulbs with hids. Hids have a ballast and are lower wattage whereas the xenons just give a different coloured light. Bit like comparing an incandescent household bulb and an energy saver.
