Fto Parts

I was thinking of getting an fto or evo 4/5 the only thing stoping me from
buying an fto is the price of replacements parts, i have a lancer 1.5 mx touring rare model the distributor went on it and its gonna cost 1500 euro to get a new one, so i am wondering if it the same deal with fto parts, my friend had the back window of his fto broke and it cost 900euro for an new one. any advise would be welcomed.

FTO parts can be expensive, but no more so than lancer evo parts I'd think. Yes buying body panels new would be expensive -get yourself a policy with windcreen and all around glass cover if you are worried about the glass. In general the parts tend to be more expensive mainly due to it being an import with no Irish market equivalent. But general cosumables, filter pads, etc are all stock stuff and reasonably priced. If you think FTO parts are expensive trying buying an Italian car . I've done both and the FTO parts look like a relative bargain!

I suggest you browse the website and decide for yourself if you think the parts are expensive or not.
€1500 for a distributor on a 1.5 lancer seems extortionate. To whom did you pay this kings ransom?

didn't pay it yet my friend changed the timings on the engine to compensate, he said that this is no good for the engine and he doesn't know how long it will last, he works in mitsubishi, and the quote was from mitsubishi. he said he was gonna try and get me one for cheaper but hasn't found one as of yet. i am not supprised with that quote form mitsubishi they quoted me 175 euro for plug leads WTF.

Mitsubishi are hugely overpriced for just about everything. If you can I'd say source the part from elsewhere, you'll save a packet big time.

For the FTO I've generally found everything I've needed either new or secondhand from a breakers. Ebay is a pretty good source for bits and pieces too.
