Merc Garage in Dublin - Advice

Postby TopCat » Thu Jan 13, 2011 4:35 pm

Hi,

just asking this question on behalf of my boss. He has a Merc CLK200 (lets not start a debate on his choice of car :) ), it has come up for a service, and now the garage has produced a pretty long list of things that should also be done. In fairness to the garage, they are saying that some items are not priority, can could be left until a later date, but long story short, he feels he might be getting ripped of (surprise surprise). So, he is looking to get a second opinion, and is looking for recommendations in the Dublin area, and will fit Merc approved parts, so it won't impact his car service history.

Any recommendations?

Thanks in advance,

Tom

Yeah, its a Merc garage he's with at the moment. Maybe I'm being a little cynical, but no harm getting a second opinion. One example of what we're talking about is that there is a small issue with his seat (possibly a spring gone) and they're saying he needs the whole base of the seat replaced. I'm just wondering could a small (second hand even) part solve it a lot cheaper!

in that kind of case might be best way.but delear's are trained to keep the car in the best condition and as close to new std as possible.and you might not be able to but that spring from merc on it's own.but in the most part if he want merc parts used to keep std up.best to have them fitted by merc to.just my view. but cost is the thing.with the times we live in.

I would go no further than Andy in Rathcoole Motors Dublin, the man knows his stuff and look's after just about everything for me. I have obviously checked his prices on occassion and never found cheaper his work is top class as is his premesis, let me know if you are interested and I can have a chat with him to look after you.

There's a Merc expert in Harold's Cross. His name is Sean but I haven't got his number to hand. I'll dig it out and post it up. He's VERY good and really nice to boot. He's called out to the house for my parents' cars over the years.
Currently in my collection:
'98 Toyota Starlet...
'79 Mini Clubman 1380cc ~100BHP (I hope)
'79 BMW 728

There's Bradys in Castleknock, Ballsbridge Motors, Annesley Motors, Denis Mahony on the North Road, then there's MUTEC on the Naas road for vans.

Probably something boring like esp or a sensor to tell you when the ashtray is full.
