Quad Exhaust… Decat?

Postby TopCat » Tue Jun 03, 2008 1:00 pm

Quick one guys. As you saw (or more likely heard! ) at the weekend, my exhaust is shot. Following advice at the weekend, I’m taking the plunge and replacing it all from the cat back. Or possibly including the Cat. I’ve fairly keen on a quad system, and the blueflame one on camskill is the only real option. I really liked the one Mark had (slightly smaller pipes I think), but I heard that was custom, so guess its outta the question price-wise.
The question then is do I get it with a de-cat pipe or not? Will it make much of a difference to the performance or not (consider I’m only driving a GS)? And I suppose another thought is if its worth getting the decat pipe purely to save the cat for the NCT?

Another option would be to fit a high flow cat from camskill, pricey though...

Wow, that is pricey. Out of the question I'm afraid. I'm not really after performance gains to be honest, I'm really looking to get this done fairly cheap. I'm just wondering if its worth spending the extra money for the decat pipe too, and what advantages I'd get?

Pretty negligible on a GS. Maybe a bit more sound - thats about it.
My advice for a GS - leave your Cat in.

Sound, thats kinda what I suspected.
BTW, was it a blueflame quad you had on yours? (you posted a pic on a question regarding suspensions earlier)
