I have a spare water pump as well, it wont fit the GR, I think its a GPx, cant be sure though.

OT Dean who did you take your car to. I need some work done to mine, and the jury is still out who I'll give the car to.

Its a fellow out the newport road. He did the belts job for me, however I take it to Dean Power in Garryowen now though. Hes much closer to me, and knows his stuff. He does stuff for 40 an hour.

Oh I know Dean very well quite the coyboy! He'll give you a quote alright & when you go to collect the car then, he had to do this to it, that's extra, he had to do that to it, that's extra! Before you know it the quote you got is long gone & he would'nt let the cat out of the yard until you pay! Ya my advise stay well away, John work's for him alright if anything ask John do you a tommer on the side but stay well clear from Dean!

Just a quick update, the car is running perfect now, difference in engine noise though, but I'm told the difference is how it is ment to sound, so I dono, but anyway the guy who fitted the belts & water pump informed me that my wheel bearing's? were weak & it would be in my interest as in cost of tyre's interest to replace them? Firstly what are wheel bearings? Secondly I've learned even if there is nothing wrong for the moment get it done quick! My car is a bit of a hypercondract the min someone mentions something I should do in the near future, or something that is commen to go in FTOs it all of a sudden developes it! Thirdly do I have to remorgage?

I didn't think wheelbearings had anything to do with tyre-wear.

Wheel bearings are located inside each wheel hub and essentially they make sure your wheel go-around.. when one goes you'll know cause it'll make a foul noise..and it'll make you want to stop in a hurry.

I found this here generic "guide" doubt it's much use - but have a look - if gives you a bit of an idea of the work involved..

think I saw bearings on camskills site there not so long ago so have a look that'll give you an indication of the size of the remortgage ;-)

Well that depends on how many of them need replacing!

That link is for one of them. They're the same for the right and left, but there's different ones for front and rear.

He said the front passenger? But said you kinda have to buy them as a pair so your better off getting them both replaced! I don't think he was anywhere near the back of the car so I'd need him to have a look at those ones before I order them!

I dono though surely I'd know if the bearings were gone? Surely there would be some signal's?

Yeah it should make a very noticable grinding noise while driving which increases drastically in volume as you speed up (irrespective of revs/engine noise).

Dont replace the bearings unless they are making a loud droning noise when driving. Unless they are so bad that he could rock the wheel from side to side, there is no way he could tell the bearings need changing.

The front ones are a good bit harder to replace, they need to be pressed out.
Rear one are easy as P**s.

I have some front ones in stock if needed but I would leave well enough alone for the moment.
