Plastic/Rubber cleaning

what do you guys use to revitalise the black on your plastics/rubber trims?

exterior /interior

mine are a bit oldish looking + some paint on them ( i don't wanna damage them more with petrol or stuff)
no1. manual GR 96 l no2. tip GR 95 l no3. manual Gpx 95 l no.4 manual Gpx 95 l no.5 manual Gpx 96 l no.6 tip GR 95 - in 2011 took a break from the FTO scene

I've heard Son of a Gun is good...

+ 1 for all rubber and plastics - the older the better the result.

For paint removal I'm afraid in my experience petrol is your only man (rinse afterwards). The tar and paint removal stuff your buy on the shelf isn't up to much.

Clearly I know nothing about car paint then - allways presumed cars had oil based paints. :oops:

An EU directive came in on the 1st of January this year banning solvent based paint except on classic cars. Just wondering how you'd remove this stuff?

Petrol's pretty good for removing anything I think, as long as you dont try to take anything off the actual paintwork with it cause it takes the shine or whatever causes the shine out of it.

Yip - Even your local petrol station is likely to have it - I found it particular useful for the rubber seals around the FTOs framless doors - the rubber on here seems to perish fairly easy.

I find "Back to Black*" longer lasting on the exterior than "Son of a gun"







*not the Amy Winehouse album, though that's pretty good too - and presumably alcohol-based

I wouldn't go as far as to say AutoGlym is the fish's tits. It's good quality and it's handy that they cover every aspect of car care, some of their products are very good, some are just average.
