Engine chokes a little randomly

Postby scottledeuce » Thu Sep 25, 2008 11:47 pm

Hi Guys

Not a major issue at all but one that gets me thinking most mornings and I still cant figure it out.

Quite often I notice when driving the car from cold after about two minutes or so it often feel's like it splutters when accelerating. This usually happens at the same point as well which has me thinking it's just an interim thing and that the revs have dropped but engine is not fully warm.

Just wondering if anyone else has experienced/heard of this happening, I'm sure it's nothing but I like to know what's going on with the car.

Last week I couldn't figure out why this light came on when I was braking/taking corners aggressively until a large truck came in front of me and I found out it was the washer, had me worried though

Thanks

Now that sounds familiar

Also, I wouldn't worry about the 'kangarooing' too much, there were a few weeks where it happened my car too, exactly when I'd pull out of my estate and go into second. It's stopped doing it recently though. Try leaving your foot off the clutch a bit slower when changing up. If you were woken up on a cold morning and asked to go somewhere you'd be a bit spluttery too!

What revs are you talking about? 2-3K or the mivec range?

I wouldn't be that cruel to a car on a cold morning now would I.

Like optical said in the low gears at about 2K revs, It feels almost liek hitting the limiter and it cuts back, except much slower.

On a more concerning note I was under the car this evening and noticed the left front was worn through on the inside,

the left front is well worn but more evenly, It's a good thing I took a look because judging from the outside it looks like I have a good 3 mm anyway.

Just ordered two new F1's off camskill there but I don't like the way the left front was wearing, Obviously the tracking will be done but could suspension be playing a part as well?

This is what I get for mentioning my problem yesterday :x

First things first - change the fuel filter, it could be clogged up, thats the most likely cause. Alternatively, it could be dirty injectors or some other fuelling problem, a diagnostic (search the forum) may help here.

Re uneven tyre ware, the tracking is way off, get 4 wheel alignement done when the tyres are changed.

Laser tracking though, all the way. I don't trust 'guessing'.

See if this helps first and if not we can worry about other parts.

Tyre could be down to the camber too, if the camber is off they wont even bother to track it. So check that first, fairly easy to spot.
