Does this make sense?!?

Postby adrian » Tue Feb 10, 2004 10:01 pm

Hi,

Reading an S2000 forum about tyres as am chaning the "Bridgestone Potenza S-02" 225/50/16's that Honda recommend on the back of my car. But some S2000 owners (in USA) are saying:

If changing to another tire then the Bridgestone, you will need to get 245/50/16. The S2000-specific Bridgestone S02 is a special tire supplied for this model. The contact patch of this tire is approximately the same as 'normal' 245 width tires. So, if you move from the special S02 to any other tire, get a 245 or you'll significantly reduce the rear grip.

Does that make sense? I don;t wanna stick with the Bridgestones as they are mainly designed for dry use.

Thanks,

Adrian

Best bet would be to ask Honda themselves if you're not 100% sure. If its an official line on an S2K forum, I would imagine they know what they're talking about. There may be differences between the US and Euro tyres though, ask on the S2K forum (and I'm not being smart!)

FYI, this is correct Adrian, I was reading a back issue of Japanese Performance mag (Jan '04), it had an S2000 buying guide which mentioned this. Well worth a read by the way if you havn't already seen it...

Easons sell it anyway, I'm subscribed to it for the year and I recently bought a load of back issues. Check out their website, they even list FTO Ireland in their clubs section!
