Tiptronic gearbox problem. P not working.

Hello, I got a Fto from 1995 with the tiptronic gearbox. However, I can put the gear into P, but then the brake doesnt work. I have to put it on handbrake in order to make it stand still. Any ideas what this might be and how it can be fixed? Is this also a sign that the gearbox might die soon?

Could be the cable going from the lever to the box

You should always put the handbrake on anyway. But yeah, what colm says.
