I assume this is the case but you checked / replaced the ignition leads, right? Any errors from a diagnostic check?

is important to find out if both served cylinders are affected (cos a coil serves 2 spark plugs)

easy to see...
just run the engine with all leads and plugs connected for a few seconds... hear the sound it makes .. keep it in your cache for a while; then disconnect the affected coil completely and run the engine again .. the outcomes are:

1) the sound changes in worst and a second cylinder does not receive spark if only one does not work than is a dead plug lead.
2) the sound stays the same if both affected cylinders don't work you must go lower on the electric circuit (leads from coils to ecu , connectors)

for point 2 see the electrical wiring in the download section

cheers

Hi guys I'm back I sorted this issue for a little while but it's back I had it fully tested and he said the ecu was not giving a feedback. So I changed ecu it still did it till I took it up the road and now it's back. This time thow I'm getting injected system crank sensor and cam sensor codes. Now I read some where that one the crank or cam sensor operates the fuel and the spark what I am asking is it possible for a sensor to be faulty. E.g that it could prevent that coil from sparking o would it not let ever work. I was told by mitsi that the evo have a issue with the crank thrust bearings witch can effect the ignition has any one else exsperienced this problem thanks tom

it is possible for the sensors to be faulty. and yes this may influence the ecu. In your case the Crank position sensor may be faulty. I truly do not know enough about FTO engine management yet (did not have this problem so far) to be of any help (especially over the net) but here is the link to useful read how the stuff works:

This may not solve your particular problem, but it is good thing to know anyway.

But rattle did quieten I think the sorcenof problem lays round this does any body no how fi a new one if the old one has snap out pins thanks tom

check this:

I think this one is the source of your problems, anyway I would also check Crank Position Sensor:
