If you're looking to do it on the cheap, I'd recommend buying it all off Ebay. Assuming you're head unit is half decent, pick yourself up a set of 50W RMS componant speakers for the front and a set of 50W 6x9s. You'll need a 4 channel amp thats capable of 50W per channel for these boys.
A 2 channel 200W amp and a similar speced 12" Sub should do the business as regards bass. Look out for names like Alpine, Rockford Fosgate, JL Audio and Kicker.
