how do you like your drive?

Postby d_dan » Fri Jun 06, 2008 2:00 pm

just wondering how everyone likes the way there car drives.

soft
hard etc.

Personally I prefer my car to feel like a go kart.

Hard suspension,
Hard dampers,
Low.
I like to feel the road and know exactly what the cars going to do.
I really dont feel safe if theres body roll in the car

Problem here Dan is that it will be almost undriveable on the vast majority of Irish B roads.

Having owned and driven a good range of sports cars on cats-eye scrapping coilovers/uprated dampers/springs I think that uprated dampers and something like the Eibach Pro springs are possibly the best compromise for Irish roads.

For an FTO I found that a combination of KYB dampers and Apex springs along with polybushes and ensuring droplinks,ARBs etc are kept in good order was the optimum route to take if you are to drive your FTO on a day to day basis. FTO remains comfortable with minimum body roll, good handling and your girlfriend will still want to sit in the passenger seat.

yup, no point in having a car that gets unsettled in every corner because of the slightest imperfection in the road. my new FTO has higher suspension and a softer ride and smaller wheels than the last one, and I prefer the way it corners, sure it doesn't stay as flat as the old one, but it's still a better drive. Can't wait to fit the Apexs and see how they feel.

I see the bandwagon - and I'm jumping on it..

a Firm ride yes - but not a hard one.. (dear lord!)
bodyroll needs to be low - but at the same time car shouldn't be so hard that your teeth clatter from crossing the road markings.

I live in the sticks, I know about bad roads.
