Anyone know how to know if cambelt needs changing? What's a ballpark figure on the change - €500? Could I check it for wear and tear myself........

The belt should be changed every 100k kms, depending on what milage your car has done, you should be able to take an educated guess. If in doubt, get it done. I've never removed the cam case, but I imagine a close inspection of the belt would reveal some wear and tear. 4 - 500 quid is a ballpark figure for having it changed.

Hi
Give Paul in Artane a ring (His contact info is on the service part of this site) and he'll tell you straight off. I reckon it'll cost you less than €300

For my GR - I got an OE belt from Camsilk with a tensionner and the other two belts that they have on offer at the moment for around €130 all in (including p&p) and Paul fitted them for me for €160 - (PLEASE don't quote me to him - I don't know if he was doing me a favour or not at the time, - long story - but that was only a couple of weeks ago).
