desided to change the colour of my seats

Postby monkey » Wed Oct 10, 2007 9:38 pm

have you ever heard of using a can of mat black airosol paint to change the colour of your parcel shelf or boot carpet, will it do's work and it also changes your seats too.
I took out all the carpets out off the boot and lightly sprayed them with mat black after less than 15 mins they were dry.
refitted and now the boot looks better than new.
my seats look even better after spraying.
the material do's not go hard feels the same as before will not rub off.
if i look inside now its like looking at a new interia.
black charcoal look like in vw's
paint got from local motor factors (car paint) has to be mat.
if you are abit nervous of this get a old material car mat and try it.
this is not a prank please try on a bit off carpet or mat you have laying around before saying no way.
now I do not need leveret covers at £290
cost of paint 7.95 each x 6

I do not bodge things I have worked on cars and bikes for years and only go on things I have done or seen done please try on a old bit of carpet and then bend it twist it what ever you want to test this semingly mad idea.
please somebody try before you think no way
cost of try 8 euros and this will stay with you then what ever car you get
like if you get a boot carpet from a scrapyard but wrong colour get it back this way

A friend of mine back in denmark did this to his old old old heap of an opel kadet... next after scrapping it - it was the best thing he did for that car...

however I'm not sure i'd do it to my fto...

They might look new now but what happens if you sell the car in the future and its new owner gets a full valet or if you spill some kind of liquid ie.water on the seats

I painted my seats with Hammerite a while back. They came out well, and no signs of rust etc. Bit crispy though.

This has to be a joke. I'd be sceptical till I saw pics. whatever about lightly coating the boot shelf, I would never do the seats because they are subjected to constant wear and I think the paint would rub off on your clothes getting in and out etc. I think the boot shelf lightly sprayed would work though. Not that I'd ever take a paint can anywhere near my baby.

I'd imagine the seats would be a fire hazard if painted?
