adjusting the idle screw - anyone done it...

Postby mcgon1979 » Tue Dec 22, 2009 5:54 pm

I noticed recently that my car is dipping to about 800rpm when warm and stopped in traffic. It doesn't hunt up and down, or it doesn;t cut out at all, but it sits about 50 - 100rpm lower than it should (and used to) as I can hear the low rumble in the exhaust if you know what I mean. Just wondering do I just adjust the screw when car is warm and idleing till its at about 850rpm etc until its where it should be? I reckon I only need to bring it up 50rpm to be where it should be.
I don't think the stepper is knackered as there are no other problems, just that its idleing about 50rpm below normal and feels a little strained.
cheers.

Did mine more than once. Easy. Screw it out half a turn, should sort it out.
Be nice to nerds. Chances are you'll end up working for one.
