Phone Cuts off Internet

Postby steelroe » Thu Mar 12, 2009 10:40 am

Maybe someone on here has a similar problem to this.

Whenever I answer the landline it causes the green internet light on my router to turn red and internet will not function. Once I hang up the internet returns after a couple of seconds.
Probably some setting in the router needs to be changed.

Have you an ADSL splitter to split your phone and broadband signal in place?

Sorry for my ignorance Adrian but are you referring to the DSL filter, if so yes I have one connected to the phone connection to the router. The phone is plugged in to a phone socket in a diff room. Maybe I need a filter with the phone too ????

Install the filter at the jack closest to the router, position is important. More info:

Sorted I had a spare filtyer and plugged it into the other phone socket and problem solved. Should have realised this earlier as it only started happening when I moved the phone from the Router filter to its own phone outlet.

Next question are these filters router specific or will any dsl filter do. I am going to try and wire the filter into the back of the phone outlet as having a filter hanging from every oultet does not look great.

Filters are not router specific. Any one will do.
