A Mazda MX5 repeater (which is a direct swap for the FTO) will already have a chrome ring around the lens

clear indicators are a popular mod, unsire if anyone would want chome rings for an amber lens. May be wrong!

rings for the front indicators would be sweet IMHO

I have 1 or 2 broken headlights lying around if they would help to get measurements for rings in the heads

Let me know

I reckon you can only make them for the outer lamps these are round and already have a shrome ringg around them as far as I remember.

I know this is off on a different tangent, but what is the best way to polish aluminium to a high shine finish Jay.

Sorry Rory i never got round to answering your question on this.
Best way i found to polishing the aluminium.

Was to go down the different grades of emery paper usually starting at 800 and finishing at 2500

Then while the dial ring is spinning in the lathe i applied some bees wax.
(I got a block of this stuff from a mate but its available on ebay)

Ring turns black at this stage,
Then finally i got a polishing mop,

Same as this one and cut it into strips

http://www.diytools.co.uk/diy/Main/sp-2 ... ryID1=3986

Apply strip to ring while lathe is turning at 2500rpm until highly polished, Takes quite a while to do as any small scrathes uve missed while using the emery really shows up now and u may have to go back a stage,
This was my method anyways,

Id say if you wanted to polish a piece by hand eg.. a aluminium engine mount bracket

Id purchase a mope,
Run a threaded bar M12-M10 through the mope with a bolt and washer placed either side leaving 50mm of bar left sticking out,

Then place the bar into a chuck on a pedestal drill pressuming u have one.
And spin at the highest setting

Ive seen this done a couple of time in work,

Hope this is of some help

Jay
