Hyundi Coupe

Postby Marie » Fri Oct 05, 2007 9:15 am

Hi Lad's went out to Hospital as in the town, with my little Bro Anthony last night he just passed his driving test last wk & now want's to upgrade his motor!

Strange people STRANGE!!! They wouldn't let us test drive it said we'd have no insurance to cover it??? Hello I've open insurance? So did my older brother Billy who was there & so did my Father who was also there? Then they couldn't sell it until today? Said they needed it to get them to work?

Car is drivin hard you can tell, HUGE F**k off spoiler on the back! Color coded interior, 20inch low profile wolf-race alloy's! The exhaust is after market & it's hung very low? It sound's a bit spluttery? The gearbox is a bit weak there isn't much of a lock in the switch in gear's if you know what I mean?

He wanted €4000.00 for it! It's a 97, I've managed to get the price down to €2300.00, I'm still not sure if it's a good buy tho? Has anyone ever had much dealing's with them?

Man - you're a sucker for punishment!

Does your brother really need a huge spoiler on the back of a Hyundai of all things - and 20inch wheels - it must handle terribly! Theres no point in sticking add-ons onto a poor base car. Better to go with a clean look - nice set of rims (16's or 17's), clean lines - delocked boot - debadged - good paintwork - far classier look and will be much easier to sell on.

That yoke above would get pulled by the cops every time you'd come across them.

From my experience of them, I can say that the clutch and gearbos always feel strange, the clutch is never smooth on then, even when nearly new. gears are always vague too.
Try to find an unmodified model. I'm amazed they managed to get 20's under the tiny arches, 18's are tricky.

Watch out for the BCM which controls the remote central locking and alarm, it can go wrong and lock the keys in the car or immobilise the engine, so make sure remote locking is working properly.
If you get multiple keys with the car, make sure they all work, the keys can sometimes drop the immobiliser code. Make sure the windows go up and down properly too.

I'd avoid that particular car, but there's a few unmodified Coupes going for handy money - keep an eye out for one of them, or better still get an FTO instead

Tell me about it, I let him drive my car for the very first time last night my heart was in my mouth felt like giving my child away ha...
This car look's like something he built out of Lego block's I told him we'd want the origional spoiler as part of the deal! It was just way too weard like we met him at a petrol station he wouldn't park it under the light's? wouldn't let us drive it wouldn't let us but it????

Well he's meeting him today up town at 12:30 to buy it I couldn't talk him out of it! My father is buying it for him I guess that's why it's bothering me so much, Anthony has to pay him back like bit if this that & the other start's going in it, he wouldn't have the money to pay him back.

The car he has now is a fiat punto ahhhh... but he's only on the road a year he's only 19 like & even tho it's a fiat punto I have to put my hand's up it's spotless & he's never had an ounce of bother!

Someone on ere must know the Hyundi tho or at least the spoiler

:smt017 Is this some strange coded Limerick talk? Is there a garage involved here somewhere? 4k down to €2300 is a big drop -personally I would not touch a hyundai coupe of that vintage or in that condition. Nor would I buy a car in this situation without driving it. Chav mods of this nature usually cut deep into the operating budget, at the expense of such things as oil and filter changes, brake pads and the like....

It's usuallt tipp-exed or etched onto some part of the engine bay at least.

I wouldn't give €1,200 for that car. Run away and hold out for a good one.

Yeah - that deal has bad written all over it...

Sounds like there's cosmetic problems with the car as well if he didn't want to park under the lights..

The fact that he would let you take it for a test spin is very alarming - anything could be wrong with it - right from buckled alloys to gone-clutch faulty brakes.. anything..

Tell your borther to stick with the punto for another little bit..

If he want's a boyracery looking yoke there's better ones out there.. can't be hard to beat a big-wingend huyndai with massive rims...

Oh Twenties are bound to rub...they must be..

The only good thing I can say about the car is there is only 70,000miles up on it? & it passed the NCT in June?

ROFL!! It's a Huyndai... nicer than an fto - it might be nicer too look at than mine... but compared to a non dented example not a chance..

big wings and rims alone does not make a car..

I know I've had a hyundi myself fair enough it wasn't a coupe, but I can honestly say I've never had an ounce of bother with it engine wise, but body wise it's made of tinfoil one little tip & it through's all the wing's bonnett bumper off line!

How the HECK did I miss this thread. ([sarcasm]the huge hyundai fan that I am[/sarcasm]).

Oh my god, Run and hide... RUN AND HIDE! LMAO

Im going to cut through the 101 reasons not to buy it, straight down to this.
If someone is willing to adjust their sale price by almost 50% you gotta hear the alarm bells. They want RID of this car ASAP.
I wouldn't touch it. No way. And 20s on a coupe? I actually cannot believe that. Please try and get a pic of a the car. I would have thought it was more possible to put 18s on your roller blades, then 20s on a coupe. crazy stuff.
You would never resell it either.

a pic of it. Pleeeeaaassee..

Haha - good one!

I'd love to arrange a deal to buy this Hyundai - wear the buyer down and bargain the car down to around €1200, agree a deal and then take out a wallet full of monopoly money! Priceless! Maybe be a good idea to have a getaway FTO nearby!

This is a funny thread - sorry if that seems harsh but I really didn't believe there were people this naiive left in the world. The car was viewed in a petrol station, in the dark, it's badly modified and you couldn't drive it..... that would be a good sketch for a comedy skit

Seriously though, apart from the fact it's a badly modified old hyundai coupe and you have no history it could also be stolen or even a cut 'n shut..... if you ask me you might as well take the 2300 euro and burn it.

Maybe that car will be a sweet thing once it's cleaned... but my instrincts tell me otherwise..
