Presume you are talking about the KAD 6 pot set-up - http://www.camskill.co.uk/products.php?plid=m3b0s8p1494

Are you driving a mivec or non-mivec?

€1550 Euro is a lot of bucks for a KAD front brake kit.
This is AP Racing/Alcon/Brembo money.

Freaky parts have a (better IMO) AP Racing set-up for a lot less - http://www.freakyparts.co.uk

Its also a bit of overkill on the FTO unless you are doing regular trackdays.

I reckon something like a set of uprated discs and pads, some braided hoses and a change of brake fluid OR the wilwood braking kit that I've seen a few FTO's with would be more than sufficent on an NA FTO.

Yup, the rest of the car too.

I'm just not into the whole looks and performance thing.
I'd much rather neither

Have you the bits ordered, that sound enpensive to me. Your own calipers are fully servicable.
Pads and drop links can be sourced locally.
Where di you order parts from? Where are you located?

I have seen FTO's idle for a lot longer than that and they were fine. I would take the calipers off one by one and get someone to press the pedala few time to see how many are actually seized. That is a lot of money that could be spent on other thing for your car.

Agree with steelroe, get a seal kit and refurb them, its not too difficult. Suggest you change mechanic if he's not willing to do this job.

Give me a call if you have not ordered the parts. If you have ordered, ring them and say you crashed the car tonight and no longer need them. Out of pity surely they will take them back. Then give me a call and we will sort you out for a hell of a lot cheaoer the €1500.

Actually seeing as you're on the subject of calipers there, tried taking mine off a few weeks ago but the nuts are damn tight and I'm afraid I'll shear them if I try too hard to get them off. Any type of a yoke you can get to sort of loosen them a bit?

Had the same problem with one of my front calipers. The wheel was getting hot and I could feel the car not moving properly. Bought one of those repar kit and took it to the mechanic. He charged me an hour work and said it should be fine. After two weeks I noticed that the problem is still there so took the callipear off myself to discover that the mechanic only forced one of the pistons in and he didnt change any of the seals or anything. Im guessing he forced the seized piston in hopping that I should be fine with just the other one in working order. But with time this piston came out bit by bit and it got stuck there.
I bought two repair kits and another piston from camskill and I repaired both front calipears myself. Only took couple of hours with cleaning and painting and the car is running very well now.
If you dont want to repair it yourself you can buy a reconditioned one from camskill (about 100£ for the gpx front caliper).
I think you can spend the 1500 on something more usefull for the car not only on the front brakes ...

When you remove the piston from the caliper for new seals, the bore really need to be cleaned with a caliper hone. I can never understand dumping calipers the most of the time can be repaired easily.
