Laptop purchase advice

Following the sudden Death of my lappy i'm in the market now for a new one for the missus.
dont want anything to fancy or supersmart , just want a laptop that does it's job , has a good battery life and fly's on the www .

what u people use ?
no1. manual GR 96 l no2. tip GR 95 l no3. manual Gpx 95 l no.4 manual Gpx 95 l no.5 manual Gpx 96 l no.6 tip GR 95 - in 2011 took a break from the FTO scene

I have an old dell D-series..works a treat after a mem upgrade to 2gb...have a Lenovo t42 from work..not very fast but sturdy as f.ck...I've attempted to murder it a couple of times be the damn thing wont die...

Toshiba would be the benchmark. It really dosen't matter what kind you get, as the battery will be standard. The trick is to buy a one with more cells in it. My MSI Wind has now got a 9 cell battery as opposed to the standard 3 cell. I get about 8 hours out of it. surfing and playing solitare..

8 hours! Holy crap thats pretty impressive! Where do you get one of them and roughly what cost are they?

Postage might be expensive though.

Tosh are a good consumer brand, I used to buy them about 10 years ago for business purposes but have since moved to Lenovo (very robust) and Dell (not so robust but cheap and effective).

I got the extra battery on ebay. Worked out about €35 delivered. The standard battery lasts about 2 hours.
Be nice to nerds. Chances are you'll end up working for one.

found a DELL with good spec and 6cell battery . then again found a compaq roughly same price but lower spec ....
