wiring mod

Postby zacob » Thu Jul 29, 2004 5:53 pm

hi

Does anyone know if it is possible to wire the switch that folds in the mirrors in the fto through the ignition switch so you have an option that when you turn off the ignition the mirrors would fold in automaticallly.

Personally, I wouldn't do it, it will drastically reduce the life of the motors in the wing mirrors. This topic was discussed on the FTOOC forum last year, check it out: http://www.ftooc.org/phpbb/viewtopic.php?t=2576

I have mine wired to the central locking, if you lock the car with the key or alarm fob the mirrors fold in. Easy to do if you are electrical minded and looks COOOOL

CJ

From the link you sent on there was a good point made on the 3 position switch controlling the mirrors. If you could leave the function of the switch as is, there is a neutral (centre) position that could be wired to the central locking, giving you 3 options OPEN/CLOSED/Central locking position. I don't think it should be to difficult as you are just wiring through the central position of the switch (presuming that the switch has a contact in that position. If not switch would need to be replace with a 3 position switch.

Has anyone done this mod before. If so i would be greafful of any info.
