Suspension Project - I've most been....

Postby RussMan » Mon Feb 27, 2006 12:27 pm

Hi,

Well my project to sort out the fto's handling is almost completed.
So far i've had the following done.

* Full Apex Lowering kit fitted.
* Replaced Rear Camber Bolts + Bushes.
* Front & Rear Droplinks
* 2 x Short- dog bone Arms replaced
* ARB bushings
* 2 x new shocks.
* 4 x replacement Coil Top Covers

Collect car after final work completed over weekend and handling is certainly better. I have a few issues that i need to sort so would appreciate a few suggestions now that its lowered.

Going to go out and attempt the Laser alignment again later this week ( Unable to complete last time by guys in Blanch due to back end being completely seized).
Although the car has been lowered it still looks slightly raised and there is a noticeable gap under the arches. I'm running 17 inch alloys at the moment with a low profile tyre.
I need to get 4 new replacement tyres also so I'd like to fill up this gap a little bit and improve the comfort factor so was considering getting a larger profile.
Does anyone have the apex spring kit fitter with 17's... what type of shoes are you running and what profile? Any pics you can link me to? I'll post a few pictures of mine after a wash her!
Cheers
Russ

I think CJ is running 17s with a 45profile on the Apex springs..

..as far as I remember he has a few pics in his profile..

Nice one, sounds like you've been getting places with it.

With the new springs I think you need to leave it about a week to let them settle in before doing the alignment.

I got my front 2 sorted out over the weekend, had nightmares with the first one trying to get the top cup alignment right when tightening the top bolt but got there in the end. I'm going to take time off during the week to do the back 2, sounds like a pain of a job though, hopefully everything isn't seized up, etc. like other people have found.

Same story here - no problems with gaps!

thanks,Checked profile but can't see a good low down side view.

Cheers Kev good idea about waiting for the springs to settle..... don't want to get the alignment done in vain!

If i go 45 mm for the profile has anyone encountered problems with rubbing?? I'd rather not make any modifications to the arches if possible. What tyre would you recommend? I think i might get the guys who are doing the laser alignment to fit at the same time.

thanks again :)

Apex springs (KYB dampers) - 215/45 17's - not much of a gap - certainly wouldn't like it any lower.
