'95 GS *SOLD*

Postby TopCat » Thu Sep 18, 2008 9:40 am

Ok guys, some of you knew this was coming, but she is officially for sale… my little Black GS.

Basic facts, it’s a ’95 GS, with 96k miles.

Its been a fantastic car for me, completely reliable, and only thing I’ve had to replace is the exhaust, but that was probably my own fault for wishing so hard for a Quad exhaust the week before it went!

For those of you who haven’t seen it in the flesh, here are some of the non-standard aspects…

External, Engine, Etc…

Blueflame Quad Exhaust
Apex Lowering Springs
18” Alloys (thanks Dave)
Induction Kit
Blackened Side Repeaters
Custom Carbon Fibre Badge
FTO-Ireland Sticker (+5 BHP)

Interior…

Black Leatherette Covers with red FTO stitching
Custom Suede Interior (Door-cards, Gaitors, roof, etc..)
7” Touchscreen Radio/DVD/CD player with Bluetooth
Automatic Reversing Camera
One-off Carbon Fibre A-piller covers (I think that’s the name?)
Stainless steel rings & brushed aluminium dial cover
Aftermarket Dials (White with red back lighting)
Red LEDs to aircon unit, map reading lights and airvents

I’m sure there are other bits, will add them as I think of it.

I’m looking for €4800 for her. But there are a number of aftermarket parts I would consider keeping that I would reduce the price for (leather seats, door-cards, etc).

Would really like to see this kept near the forum, so would keep this in mind when negotiating price.

Anything I’ve forgotten anything or doesn’t sound right, please ask.

Very nice - Saw this car at the show and its really come on since you bought it originally - some very tasty mods.

Would consider also selling parts separately and reducing the price accordingly.

Whats next?

If you look at the 5th pic, you can see them on the top right.

Hadn't thought about it, you reckon it'd be worth my while when they get it sorted?

Yeah, it's the website everyone loves to hate, but to be fair it certainly gets results,
I bought and sold my blue one through it, and bought my silver one through it too. it's easily the most popular site, 10 times as many cars as cbg, and Carzone automatically add you to a number of other sites too.

It's not like you're selling an 05 Almera where you have 500 of them for sale, even on a huge site like Carzone, you'll only see around 20 FTOs at any one time.

Best of luck with the sale, I'd suggest printing up some flyers and putting them up in Centra/Mace/Polski Shops etc.

Done... Carzone

Cheers for the advice lads (and lassies). Would never have even thought of putting up a few flyers, good call. Hate giving carzone that money, but hopefully will be worth it.

Just be wary of the avalanche of scam phone calls you'll be getting - I got 3 today from UK "motor-find / express match type companies" trying to convince me to hand them over 80GBP+ for the sale of my car.

When I asked the question what was an unknown UK company doing trawling Irish Car websites and solicitating (scamming) money from Irish car sellers for an absolute no chance of selling your car - they got highly insulted - they all insisted they had several buyers for my Zed and said it wasn't about the fee they charged etc etc - so when I offered them 2K Euros off the price off the car if they'd just send over a draft - they said that wasn't how they did business to which I replied that was because they were only interested in the initial fee and would do sod all to sell my car. There-on usually follows the insults and you're cut off before you can tell them where to go.
Looking at their "stock lists " on their websites though its clear a lot of gullible eejits fall for this.

Also tried keeping one of them on the phone for as long as possible and asked loads of questions / pretended to get out the credit card etc and just pissed them off till they got the message.

I know, I got the usual one from a previous advert of "..we'll send you on the full price plus money for shipping. You send on the money to our friend for shipping, blah blah...". Gee gosh, your so generous mister!!
I was tempted to give them a few details just to waste their time and have them send on the bank draft, but I was busy so just gave them a bit of a strong language instead.

I like the idea of ".. let me get my credit card.." and just leave the phone down for a while, and shout the occasional ".. just one minute.." and "..I know its here somewhere.." at the phone, might use that one.

Your pics are terrible quality Shane, I know they were better than that on the old Carzone. Complain - those pics don't do the car justice.

They are very poor in general on Carzone. I have the same pics of my car loaded on Carlist, and the difference is huge. Even the search facility is poor on the new site. Unfortunately, I paid since the site changed, so I don't really have an arguement, but Shane certainly isn't getting what he paid for.

I think buy and sell are doing free online picture ads at the moment. mightn't be any harm to do a text ad in their newspaper too.

Care to give me a ballpark figure for the seat covers? Keeping in mind all the fun you'll have taking them off and sticking the old ones back on!

That is, of course, if you're not keeping them for a new GPX :D

I'm afraid if I was to do that, Bernard would have first call on the seats, he's been salivating over them for a while (to all potential buyers.. not literally, I think :? ).
I'd say though they will go with the car to be honest, they're a good selling point.

Yep would agree, looks very well, matches the interior nicely.

Looks like I'll have to save my pennys for a new set so!

Good luck with sale btw, car looks mint.

Agreed, they're a good selling point. That and the quads make for a great looking car.

All she's missing is Mivec, you should just do an engine swap and you'd be sorted

Well, tonight, about 7 o'clock, my little black beauty was taken away.
Very sad to see her go, but got a price I was happy with, so it now has a new owner in Cork. Told him about the website, so will see if he drops by..
