The covers on some of those seats seem looser than others. I wonder if this is from use or if some fit better than others.

Do people find their seat covers easy to maintain / keep clean?
Do ye find they keep their shape?

Well I guess I should buy some sort of leather care product... my driver seat leather cover is worn on the side where it touches the seatbelt. That's matter for a search in the forums or maybe another post

I always use 'Holts' for any spraying, get it in any motor factors, the place in Douglas shopping centre is good Chris, and the lads behind the counter are very helpful too, seem to know their stuff.

Chris, a vinyl wrap would be much better, very hard to get a good finish with paint.

Once the area is prepped properly for the paint itll be alright though, its all about researching the methods and techniques of how to do it before just getting the paint and spraying it on without thinking. Theres sanding down to be done, primer to be put on, and the right spraying technique to be used.
Personally I think the vinyl wrap can be just as off putting if not done right and without researching again, its very easy to get something cut wrong or have a corner not fold down properly. At least with spray you can get into all the awkward corners, the wrap sometimes doesnt allow that.
Whichever you choose dont just rush into it, have to be patient, its a lot worse and harder to make good if it goes wrong when you just rush into something just for the sake of getting it done without looking into it properly.

Its an easy job on the lower console, bit more dificult on the user pod though (you need to strip the pastic coating back to the rubber). Heres the job I did on my old GPX:

Just plain primer, paint and clear coat, nothing out of the ordinary.

You should use a special plastic primer when painting plastics. So I'm told.

And it held up all right without any cracking did it? I always thought an elasticiser had to be added to the spray cause of the rubber, makes it easier if not though, thats cool.

I guess you should ask Aido what sort of condition its in now, I certainly never had any issue with cracking....

If it didnt crack when you had it then its unlikely it ever did so, it would have probably started relatively quickly when the paint started to dry, with the shrinkage or whatever happens, that the rubber would be more flexible and have more contraction than plastic so would move more.
Cause I was worried about when I start spraying how I was going to mix elasticiser and the quantities and all that to use, but that problems not an issue now any more so makes the job easier when it happens.
Was it just a standard spray can or did you use a spray gun type thing on it? I was thinking of getting an airbrushing kit to do mine in time, dont know would it make the quality better or would it make a difference.

Just playing around with ideas really here but how do you think a chromed centre console would look?? Do ye think it would be cheap and tacky looking and is it even possible? Theres a guy in West Cork who chromes things (usually engine bays etc) and did a job on a friends car very cheap... I cant really imagine what it would look like....

It'd look crap IMO. think you can only chrome metal things anyhow.

Wouldnt be gone on the look of it but then again you never know till you try, but you can do it all right. Remember the FTO in Rising Sun Colm with the Transformer engine bay? He had his bottle caps and other plastic things chromed by a friend too, I didnt think it could be done either but apparently it can.
