Was driving to Clonmel yesterday and was just thinking, how many FTO's do you reckon are in the republic?

Given that there are over 750 users on this site (i know all may not be owners) but I reckon 1500-2000 FTO's in the country.
Might be able to get some info from a Garda friend if I ask nicely!!!!

Last time I checked a few years ago, there was approx 350 DE3A's, I would imagine that has risen somewhat. Its conceivable that there are in the region of 5-600 hundred on Irish roads.

That raises another question;
From a ratio of population to FTOs, compared to other countries, would Ireland have the most FTO's? I know Japan and Oz obviously have more FTO's, but their populations are huge and ours is tweency.

Update - official figures have come in from a forum member. At this point in time, numbers work out at:

447 DE3A's
88 DE2As

Total 535 FTOs in the Republic of Ireland.

Good guess Dan, I wasn't far off myself!

Are they all on the road or is that just the total number of FTOs that have been registered?

Where did you get that figure from? DE2A and DE3A are the model numbers for the 1.8 and 2.0 FTOs. Doesn't matter if they're pre or post facelift.

I reckon there is not too many manual GPvRs floating about either...
I do feel proud Seb! Imagine driving a DC4 Tegger Type R... Not to diss the Honda but you'd nearly get into the wrong car coming out of the shops there is that many of them...

Looks the exact same all right, and the fact it has recaros I suppose 'cept their aftermarket and red not blue. Think the Vrs come with a front strut brace too do they? Mine has only one on the boot.
