I've the car booked in with Paul Nolan to have the timing belt done (as well as some front suspension bushes changed). Paul comes pretty highly recommended but I've a question about the timing belt - I read somewhere that jap cars need to have the timing retarded (or is it advanced ?) over here because we're using a lower octane fuel (otherwise you get pinking) and that the FTO's ECU will actually compensate for timing that hasn't been correctly set for lower octane fuel which results in a small loss in power.
So what I'm wondering is has anyone ever had the timing setup correctly for the lower octane fuel - anyone had this done with Paul?
