Tiptronic gearstick button not popping up

Tiptronic gearstick button not popping up for reverse gear
I noticed something strange today.

The button behaviour is as follow:

Park - Button up, stick wont move until button pressed
Reverse - Button not popping up, can just push it into neutral
Neutral - Button up but can push into d without pressing button
Drive - Button up but can push into n without pressing button

Whats this all about?

Aside from the button not popping up in reverse, that sounds normal to me. I was always able to go from D to N without pressing the button in both my fto tips and in my BMW tip.

Could be the spring in the gear stick is busted, pop the button out and you'll see. Use 2 flat headed screwdrivers and its easy enough to do.

P to R
R to P
N to R

Should move from:
R to N
N to D
D to N
