Now I've pretty much finished messing with the look (yeah - right) of my recently acquired RRS I thought I'd stick up some pics.

I've steered clear of the usual Project Kahn type (Gangsta) mods that you often see on these buses and kept to OE bits and bobs from the supercharged and HST versions. So on go various chrome cosmetic bits, front HST grill, clear side indicators, sidesteps and a set of titanium coloured 20's from the supercharged model.

Honest opinions please -

I think you've done a great job of freshening up the look Shane, I'm not a fan of RR's as a rule but your one looks very clean. The wheels in particular look the part, understated all the way IMO.

Shane man, I am a massive massive fan of the RRS anyway (hope to change the XC90 for one in 2 years time) and that is absolutely stunning. I, in a nice way, hate you! :evil: :twisted: :D :D

Overall very nice, nothing OTT.

The only bit I wouldn't be gone on is the side mesh thingamajigs.

Thats a serious looking piece of kit. 8) Not 100% on the chrome on the mirrors, but the rest is very nice. Especially the alloys. Class! :)

Nothing fancy - just a 2.7litre V6 turbo diesel - same as in the XF and XJ Jags. Won't frighten any sports cars but its comfortable and handles a lot better than I had been expecting.

Do miss the outright performance of the Zed though - however will be handing over the RRS to Maria in the next couple of months and will get back into something with a bit of go.

I can't say I like RRs at all, but those alloys really look superb on it.

I think the alloys and grille are gorgeous,
Wouldn't be pushed about the chrome stuff, but it certainly makes it stand out.

Yip - SE spec with climate pack - heated electric leather seats front & rear, heated washer jets, fogs, xenons, parking sensors, heated windscreen and side windows, Harmon Kardon 10 speaker ICE, Cruise control, Dual Climate Control, DSC etc etc etc - Its got pretty much everything you could think of aside from Sat Nav.

Having driven a couple of the latest 5 series recently (both 525d's) - I have to say I actually prefer the RRS - its much more comfortable and looks the biz on the road.

Latest model X5 (E70) looks and drives better (2007 onwards) but its a lot more expensive. Older E53 models look staid and dated and the interior is not as nice as the RRS IMO. Older E53 models don't offer much in the way of an improved drive over the RRS on road and they'd be considerably worse when the going gets tougher.

I did consider the X5 but theres just too many of them on the road - I was a lot closer to buying a Cayenne - which has if anything better presence than the RRS and much better on road performance but then future running and resale costs were allways gonna bite me on the ass.

I was a passenger in an m-series x5 last summer over in Cardiff.. HOLY Bejaysus that thing could move..and it's massive.

Jamie had 3 childrens-seats in the back, not much room left after that though..but those seats aren't exactly small..

External looks wise I defo prefer the RRS.. The cayenne is just wrong imo.. x5 sure, it's grand, but it's a bit of a wanna be I think... it's just trying a bit too hard to be something it's not.

Is the RRS your rep mobile?

I had a feeling that would be the case, figured the RRS would sit somewhere in the middle!
The E70 X5 is probably the best off roader I've driven, haven't a clue how different the RRS is to drive compared to the regular Range Rover.

Air suspension standard - sits as low or as high as you'd like really + adjustable for several different types of terrain + hill descent control + stability and high & low ratios.

I've driven the standard (full fat) Range Rover and while its more luxurious than the sport it really doesn't drive or handle anything like as well as the RR Sport.

I like it all except for the mesh on the wings - they're borderline gangsta and IMHO I don't feel that they're a great match with the full black mesh on the main grill.

Sills and wheels are great though - titanium / gunmetal - my favourite. I wish I could afford the tyres and tax on that thing :wink:

That the RR that sits down when you turn off the ignition? Very slightly but you can see it sitting as you walk away.

The standard intakes are very boring and these are genuine Supercharged/HST items though I can see how some peeps would think they are OTT. They do seem to stick out a lot more in pics than in the flesh for some reason.

Yip - It sits on its hunkers when you hit the locking mech on the keyfob.
The air suspension works great at the moment but I wouldn't like to be running this SUV in 5 years time - theres just way too much to go wrong.
