as the title suggests, what would you be realistically be driving if there was no FTO.

I'd love a supra, or something but realistically for me it would be a Fiat Coupe or an Alfa GTV.

Assuming there was no FTO when I bought my first one then I'd have
An early 90's prelude -I still like the shape.
Otherwise an alfa GTV or 156.
At present if there was no FTO I'd more than likely have an RX8 -it's definitely on the to do list...

Would love an RX7. Realistically though, possibly a Corrado.
Great topic idea BTW. :)

Hard to say... FTO is a car I saw years and years ago and wanted one since then, but probably a 3 series Beemer, another one of my fav cars when I was pushing dinkys around the sitting room. That said, if the FTO fell apart or blew up in the morning, the first car I'd test drive would be a Citroen C4, then maybe a 3 series, and a Saab 93.

Hard to say really..

I'm thinking one of the following..

sx200 - Good Value, Good Performance, Good fun
350z - Good Looks, Good Performance, Relatively Low Maintenance.
Astra OPC - Good Performance, Fun, Low Maintenance, New.

I'd prolly end up in the 200sx because it'd the the one car that be cheap enough to buy that I'd still have money left over for neat little extra bits..

Back in the day, I very nearly bought an ITR and then decided on a GS i.e. very nearly no FTO-Ireland! (in its current form anyway).

I'm with Mustang on the RX-8 front...

I'd have to agree with Mustang, probably a prelude (old shape), I love the unusual dash.
I quiet like the looks and the performance is similar.

Quentin Wilson (I think it was) described it as a "Buck Rogers" style dash board :) quirky!

For me it'd be the 350z, S2000, Racing Puma (also had the Zed and Racing Puma).

Of the lot though the RX8 does seem like the most natural successor and is now priced similar to FTO's were back when I started buying them in 99/00. Theres some serious value to be had in todays marketplace.

When I was buying my FTO (back in the nineties) I was looking at a Celica, Calibra (still think these look good - super rare too) and of course the Prelude.

It's hard to know where to go after the FTO and that was my problem for a long while. For me the natural progression was the RX7 in terms of performance and styling. While the 350Z,Supra and S2000 are a close second but the FTO can't be beaten as a great all rounder imo :)

For some reason I feel like cars should be in stages...

Car before this was an Eunos Presso (MX-3), then this is my first FTO, next 350Z, then I plan to be rich by then so it'll have to be a Jag XKR....

Must say, drove an MR2 (MR-S type) today, hadn't taken one for a spin in ages, really enjoyed it. they're reasonable money at the moment, so I'd have to add that to my list (even if they're a bit girly)
