FTO wrote off available at €660 to scrap or repair

Postby karlf » Fri Feb 06, 2009 12:55 pm

Would anyone be interested in buy my damaged FTO for scrap. The scrap value is €660 (this is what the insurance is looking for if I want to hold onto it), so if anyone wants it for that price they are welcome to it. I'll try post pictures later (never posted pics before I'l read the "how to" and see how I get on) as I'm sure you'll need them to judge the value of it. Back Bumper is damaged (has a crack Approk 4-6 inches, maybe ok to plastic weld), passenger rear wing folded a little bit near light cluster, locks and ignition no good, stereo surround gone, they also broke the front pass side alloy maybe damage suspension, wish bone etc as a result. Just thought I'd ask, thought someone might be interested.
Its a 96 gs auto with 187k km. White.

It worked whoo!! Anyone interested let me know ASAP. I cant lower the price as it is on offer for what the insurance are demanding should I want to keep it.

Yeah they will offer you the book value of the car. Which depends on milage, year model etc. Then they offer the car as scrap via the internet. They send pics to loads of scrap yards who bid on it. Whatever the highest bid is will be the scrap value.
Should you want to keep it they get the book value and take the scrap value away. Just be careful the figure your left with might not be enough to get the car fixed, so you could loose out. Do your homework before you decide. And I hope your not covered by quinn they'll screw you like they did me.
Any after market bits you have take them off (if your not keeping it) most companies dont cover them and if its quinn will insist they stay on the car. Costing you more in the long run, as you'll have to replace them.
