exhaust has gone

can anyone tell me were i can get a centre box section (for a fiver)for my exhaust, the buzzing is starting to do my head in
i would prefare if i dident have to order it in from over the water

1.8 / 2l V6 or 2l V6 Mivec?

I sold my standard centre section last year off my mivec - however I am changing my exhaust again in the next couple of weeks to a twin exit (single either side) - so I may have a spare aftermarket exhaust that will cost you a lot less than a replacement.

Otherwise you could try Steelroe on this site - he generally seems to have bits and bobs of OE and aftermarket exhausts.

if so I would be interested, what kind of euros are we talking about and when might you be thinking of changing yours

not looking for much TBH - how does €150 Euro sound for centre section and back box or €100 for centre section alone?

The GPX exhaust is a different bore (larger) to the GR exhaust so it would take a little bit of fiddling to get it to fit - a good exhaust place wouldn't have a problem fitting the GPX exhaust to a GR.

I asked them to do the hub in black (with black lug nuts) and white spokes so that it would give the appearance of a single centre lock nut (as per touring cars) - they will try this and if it doesn't turn out as expected I'll be going all black.

Though the guys tried hard to convince me that a metallic orange would be the way to go. They spend too much time customising their motorbikes methinks BTW - these guys will powder coat anything metal - and their work is savage so if you've anything in mind let me know. I'm thinking of chroming the manifold?

Yeah - a chrome FTO would be cool.
Doubt it would last long though. Cars would be crashing into you from the glare.

id steer clear of a chromed manifold for two reasons.

1/ chromed aluminuim will peel like a **********.

2/ it could overheat the manifold.

you could opt for powder coating, as it will adhere well to aluminuim, but will also give the baked potato effect.

id personally go for a breatheable, engine paint, ive used these on my bikes and they work a treat.

The guys that are doing the powdercoating are real motorbike heads - they don't usually do car parts - mostly just stuff for bikes so they are very particular. They have suggested a couple of ways of doing the manifold - I'd leave it to them to decide.

They are also talking about some special process they have for powder coating plastic so there could be more options there for other parts - interior, engine, spoilers etc.

I'll put up some pictures of the wheels when finished - if anyone else wants their wheels powder coated let me know. It shouldn't cost more than €200 so if your alloys are looking tatty - inc the standard 16's then heres your chance to get them chromed or any colour of your choice.
