spoiler Advise needed

Postby macspratt » Mon Jun 13, 2005 7:00 pm

Hi guys,,looking to buy a new spoiler in a few weeks,i like the HIRO, but dont want to go to the trouble of having to have the center hole in the boot filled and painted.
The V-R ONE LOOKS COOL,but will the center piece off my old spoiler fit the V-R or does that come withe a new one?
veileside spoiler, mmmm,,is it a tad over the top or not?only seen it on pics and not up close,,whats the script with the boot lock does it need to be moved,as it looks like it fits into the back lip of the spoiler?

hope u can shed some light for me.

Aiden, the OEM vR spoiler has a different fitment to the standard FTO spoiler so the boot will need re-drilling. The fibreglass copies will bolt straight on. As regards the VS, it should bolt straight on, theres a hole in the spolier to allow access to the boot lock.

At the end of the day, its all up to personal preference, take a good look at the aero kit section on Steve Hemmings site and decide for yourself:

Personal choices are GPvR or core sport spoilers.

On the core sport one,do u get the peice that covers the hole in the center and the boot lock ,or is that an extra?not quite shure wether i like the screws showing on the side of it though,,mmmm.
has anyone seen the VS one up close, only seen it on pics, just wondering wether it would be a bit overkill.personaly i love the hiro, but like i said dont want to af2 thave all the boot sprayed as well..
were can i get my hands on any of these here in he uk??any links would be brilliant..

Just a thought - chances are if you get a spoiler you'll probably have to have it painted anyway, so wouldn't be that much more to have the boot painted... I've no idea how much it would be to have the holes filled though, I'm told to do it properly you need to weld them.

No unfortunatly you don't get aything to fill the holes, you have to get that done yourself.

Yep to get it done properly a plate need to be welded to the underside/inside of the bootlid that the hole filed and sanded down and bootlid resprayed, yep as ya said may as well get it done when getting the spoiler sprayed.
