Maybe ask seb to weigh one next time he takes an fto apart. Why do you want to know anyway?

Seb only has automatic FTOs.

I want to know the fto flywheel weight so I can decide which flywheel to use when converting to a mirage gearbox.

I have both of these:
Mirage rs flywheel- 6.4kg
Toda Chrome-molly flywheel- 4.3kg

If the fto flywheel is similar to the mirage one then I will use the Toda flywheel, if it's anything over 6.9kg then I think the Toda one will be too light.

That seems very light,RPW list a Fidanza flywheel for fto as 5.2kg.

If U'll use the build only for Drag racing then Toda F/W will be fine, but if U plan on using the car for daily driving U'll find it hard to drive up the hills and she be to touchy for town traffic, also when u'll lift the foot of the pedal the car will be slowing down nearly like U would hit a wall.

I would fit the Toda one and see for Yourself, if not happy then pull the gearbox out and fit the RS flywheel.

I meant to text ya on about it, but it just came to my head now!
No matter what please dont use that clutch disc U got with the flywheel, just get EXEDY disc alone, shouldn't be that expensive and save Yourself either Toda or RS flywheel damage Aidan!

I personally wouldn't bother, but I only want my fto for some fun every day driving. Seems difficult to get the info on weight. Maybe camskill would be able to answer that.

I use the passat mostly so think I'll go with the Toda flywheel. I know the downside of them anyway so just wouldn't like it too light but I think 4.3kg is going to be fine.Yeah I could just change it if I'm not happy.

Yeah I'm thinking of getting a Mitsubishi disc or maybe Exedy, You know of anywhere that sells them separate?

Most fto owners don't bother with performance, well very few anyway. No real answer to be found about the weight alright, good shout I'll try them.

I'll see what i can do, but im quite sure i can get the disc alone, which one ya want, organic one? Have U link or the part number handy for the whole Exedy clutch kit?

Dont buy NKK, not just yet till i have the gearbox off to check is this any good company, its Jap brand i know that but nothing i recommend till i actually test it myself.

I've no part numbers but I could ask Sean. Yeah organic .

It should be good enough from what I've read about them. Will wait and See how your clutch has worn.

Re: Flywheel weight

From memory the FTO Flywheel is about 7 to 8 kgs
It's not an item that can be easily lightened without reducing it's integrity and an exploding flywheel will take out your passengers legs....
Jun Racing did make a lightweight version and I did while at my previous job ask about getting a batch made but the cost was prohibitive.
As for for which flywheel to use the Mirage one would probably be best as the Toda one is way too light - I'd guess that the car would lose power on hills

Hope that helps
