i have a deposit down on a GPX and just wanted to test the water on a few things id like to do.

there are 2 mitsubishi logo stickers on each side of the car that id be intending to remove, any thoughts on getting them off and maybe a difference in colour showing up underneath.

also the car has an arial which i think disrupts the cars curves,at best i would like to remove it and maybe short term fix it so it stays down,what do yous think on that?
anybody ever undertake work of this kind?

Stickers will come off with some careful work and peeling with a hairdryer. Just use a bit of car polish afterwards or even a little T-Cut to avoid any discoloration differences.

Aerial isn't too bad as it's an electric fully retractable generally- unless yours has been replaced (badly)

i think it is the original arial kace as it goes down when the radio is off.
thing is, id like to keep it down permanently and do without the radio reception,by the way what is T-cut?

I'd say you're on a winner there, it looked mint two years ago anyway.

When I was looking at it he said he never bothered getting an NCT, that he just taxed it online, but that he's get one before it was sold.
You might just want to check it out.

A mechanic I used to work with told me that when he worked in a garage a while back (could've been Bolands, dunno) they bought in a new FTO from Japan for the owners daughter, story goes they didn't torque the wheel nuts properly and one of the wheels came off.

At the time I thought it was bull that a garage would bring in a new FTO.

That FTO would've been registered in 2000 as new or nearly new going by the number. there were over 100,000 cars registered in Dublin in 2000 weren't there. that's only in the 30,000's


But Bolands Mitsubishi is in Waterford isn't it?

petrol will help to get them off

you must be mad using petrol to remove anything not to mention it can do damage to your paintwork if not all removed properly id say use a product made for the job like autoglym tar and stain remover and warm soapy water to remove imo.

cheers for the advice lads.

i used the hairdryer to soften up the glue underneath and lightly peeled it back with a plastic ice scraper.
the petrol removed the glue and then off to the carwash for a serious scrubbing.
left the little mivec sticker on for the moment as it is small and discreet.
im delighted with the car and will post some pics(minus the stupid sticker)
soon.
