Haven't seen this FTO before but if its a turbo (as they state) then you'd have to get it checked out to ensure its running ok. It is priced very cheaply for a 98 FTO nevermind a turbo'ed car.

Has anyone viewed this FTO yet?

Would I be right in thinking this is the 3rd "Turbo" FTO this place has had for sale?

I'l stay away so just thought it'd be unusual to have a turbo. He'd go as far as €4000 for a cash buyer. Think I'l stick to a GPX anyway.

He's in a town just outside tullamore didn't catch the name. He's not too knowlegable bout FTO's, or so he said. I was trying to get model spec etc off him and he didn't know. Its a 1.8 anyway. He said there has been a lot of extras put in engine wise 6 new fuel injectors, stainless steel pipes, the turbo etc. I hope they upgreaded suspension, brakes etc. Wouldn't fancy driving that on the standard gs brakes. Reconed it was the only turboed FTO in Ireland. I informed him of dans.

Seen what looks to be a nice GPX in England. It has a few extras like cat 1 alarm, new dials, DVD player. What questions should I ask? Cam belts been changed. Also price negotiated to one that I'm prepared to pay as long as its in good nick. It says it needed no work done to pass last MOT which was done 6 months ago. I dont want to travel all that way for nothing so as much info as possible required before I'd bother. I'm just not sure what I should look out for? (other than the usual milage, service history, etc)

Maybe ask him for a list of all the things that he has replaced on the car. Don't prompt and see what he comes up with.

You should be listening for the obvious things that go, like....
Exhaust
Timing Belt
Suspension droplinks and bushes
Water pump
Heater Matrix
Tensioner Pulley
Etc.

Just read the ad again he's a member of the ftooc.Didn't see that on first read. I might do a bit of research there so. He did say he'd a gr as well that he's keeping so should have guessed I suppose. But a site member does make me feel a bit better, he must look after it (I'd be surprised if a member didn't, judging by how well all you guys on here do anway :wink: {before anyone points it out I know everyone isn't the same, i mean it more of a compliment to you guys}
It says it has "New alternator, new vented brakes, pads, braided hoses and fluid change. Cam belt changed. Complete new stainless exhaust.Custom twin cone induction filter, Full under body underseal. Drives well with good gear changes and no tappet noise on startup.
Will ask these questions when talking to him later.
Cheers Kace.

Timing belt and water pump done at 45k approx, bushes and drop links done for last mot. He's replaced starter motor over christmas. He's also getting the power steering belt done before I see it as it was noisey. Exhaust is new stainless steel one he had made as mitsi quoted him £800 sterling for it. Sounds promising.

Regarding your first post, I think if someone turbos a car they'd have alloys other than standard on as one of their first mods? The whole car looks stock to me. Doubt theres even an induction kit in it not to mind a turbo.

Thats true. But a lot of them being sold have standard alloys on but there not turbo'd. I mean there are Gpx's with body kits and DVD players and have standard alloys, just doesn't make sense. I like the originals but they look old now, if they brought out a modern version made of the latest metals (chrome, etc) I'd be interested.

I cant say for definaate yet as I may not have it by then. But it does look good, just need the all clear from a mechanic. I'd quite like to see some of your cars, been on the site for a good while now and never got to a meet. I kept saying "I'l make the next one" but never did. So I'l give a provisonal yes depending on if I get it or not. Will keep you posted. I'm looking at it monday so I'l know then
