White FTO's

Postby colm_mcm » Fri May 11, 2007 11:02 pm

What's anyones thoughts on white FTO's

I'm looking at a pretty clean FTO GPX manual at the moment. the only thing putting me off is I'm not sure about the colour. It looks good now, but are white ones generally less desirable.
It sounds like a stupid question, but I'm worried it'll be harder to sell if I want a different one.

For whatever reason, the japs like their white cars... I like the FTO in white myself but I guess its all down to personal taste. of course silver is clearly better :P but hey...

Looks good in the pics, everything spotless, all standard apart from the induction kit & the grounding kit.

Nice looking motor, and a reasonable price too I think.

Have to agree... I love my white FTO.... It really stands out.

Heres a little thing I read on the web recently. I alsways knew white was considered a "prestige" colour in Japan...

"The interplay between a white exterior and a coordinated interior is particularly eye-catching," says Finkenzeller. "White is actually a very distinctive colour. In the automotive sector in particular, it stands out from the crowd."

Twenty years ago, white cars had a 20 per cent share of the market on European roads. In Germany, this share has fallen to two or three per cent. In Southern Europe, however, the figure is currently much higher. In Italy, for example, one out of three cars leaving the dealerships is white. In general, the farther south you go, the lighter the colour of the cars on the road.

In Japan, white is considered to be the colour of purity and clarity. Twenty-seven per cent of all car buyers there go for white. When it comes to sports cars, it is practically de rigueur.

I'm 99% going to get it, the GPX is such a nice car to drive, suspension a bit clunky around town, but that's all part of the fun!
owner has original airbox, I might put that back in at some stage.

Looks nice in the pictures - price is alright too - not exceptional - but if the car is in good nick and kept pretty much original - that's what I'd expect to pay.

Buy the white FTO......I sold mine recently.......3 or 4 of the callers specifically wanted a white one so I could see no problem reselling. The white will definately turn heads. Most coupe cars look excellent in white.

Just get it up on a ramp before you buy - that clunkiness you talk about could be Anti Roll Bar bushes, Droplinks or Dampers.

Take the original airbox from him for sure but if it was me I'd just clean the apexi induction if neccessary and leave it in - the sound is much better than normal and you'll regret putting back in the standard kit.

The car passed an NCT about 1,000kms ago. Must get it up on the ramp later in the week and investigate.

White is good, think the majority of the facelifts are white. And I thought it would be a lot worse to keep clean. Mine is white, with white dials and red recaro seats, and to be honest it does look nice. The japs know how to make heads turn I'll give them that!

White is great - only problem is that they get dirty so quickly.

My fto is white and is a real headturner.
I think white is the best colour for an fto as they stand out more.
