Spare wheel with 17s

a q I've been wondering about... I'm after getting me some 17s, no tyres yet but have the wheels.

I'm wondering about the spare, what size is it, 15?

Am I going to be able to run on the spare if I need to or do 17s mean puncture=walking?

If the spare is a 15" wheel then I'd assume it will have a tyre profile on it to give the same rolling radius as the standard 16's - so if you make sure you get the correct tyre profile for 17" wheels to maintain the same rolling radius as the 16's and thus the 15" spare

I got a puncture a few weeks ago and had to fit the spare - a standard 15" wheel (not space saver but it was pretty much identical in diameter to the 18's because of the different tyre profiles....

My space saver is a 16" wheel (currently dumped in the shed - I just carry one of those pressurised emergency repair cans). As per Shane - You'll have no problem if you run a rim that is close to normal diameter e.g. 215/40 or 215/45 R 17.

Ah yes, forgetting about the bigger profile on the smaller wheels! Cool... what is the 17's recommended profile, 45?

Recommended profile is actually 215/40 R17 but I'd recommend a 215/45 for comfort - I've run both sets of profiles.
