Got the car registered!!

Postby Dave » Fri Feb 13, 2009 4:54 pm

Well I finally registered the 350 today!

I enquired about getting a cherised plate, to show 03KE350, I assumed this would cost about €300, turns out they now charge €1000 to get a cherised plate so I decided against it!!!!

out of curiousity, have 03KE regs cracked 9,500 or 10,000 yet? think we finished up on 8,400 in December of 03, would be interested to see how many 03 imports have been registered since.

Jeez! that's a lot of imports.

Also, 03KE350 is already taken, It's on a Suzuki Vitara (reserved plates are generally numbered 1-200)

We registered an Avensis lately, 09-LS-460. sign of the times that a Lexus buyer didn't snap that reg up for his 09 Lexus LS460. As the years progress the cars are getting cheaper :D

02LS430 = Lexus LS430
03LS430 = Lexus LS430
04LS430 = Lexus LS430
05LS430 = Lexus LS430
06LS430 = Mercedes E320
07LS460 = Nissan Navara
09LS460 = Toyota Avensis

Who out there would actually pay for a 'custom' reg (if you want to call it that)? A grand sounds very steep for the likes of 95 D 470......

At least it's finally done though, I always was going to do it but never actually got around to it!

I'm sure you saved yourself a nice few bob there anyway Dave.

Depending upon how long you waited and how long you're willing to drive around sticking out like a sore thumb on UK plates, you save money by the week, as the car ages (especially between years) and the VRT prices reduce.

I'm sure you already knew that though :wink:

It only came down substantially when the new year hit, came down by about €1K, but it was getting a little risky driving the car around on the UK plates, it was only a matter of time of getting pulled over and getting it impounded, I wouldn't mind, I dropped the car off to the garage straight after getting it registered and I passed a customs and exise jeep and they had someone pulled in!!

I got stopped by Customs in my Zed on the way back from the VRT office (luckily having paid the VRT) the day after I bought my last Zed. :roll:

So they charged on the day you went in to pay it, rather than when you actually brought the car into the country then?

I haven't got the 928 vrt'd yet, not driving it around yet but was thinking I'd be done for the rate when I actually brought it in.

No, not at all, I wouldn't mind on the UK V5 there was a date of export of the 23.04.08 on it, no mention of it when I was in there, just happy to take my money and leave it at that!!!
