difference between MIVEC and non MIVEC tip rev counters?

Postby colm_mcm » Mon Oct 29, 2007 9:57 pm

Does a mivec and non mivec tiptronic rev counter look the same and are the numbers in the same place?

Yes the tip mivec and tip non-mivec are the same.

You sure about this Daz? The GR has a lower rev limit than the GPX (due to lack of MIVEC), I was always of the opinion that the dials were different.

To be honest, I can't be sure myself. I seem to remember noting a lower rev limit on GR rpm dials at one point, a like for like compariosn would be useful. Any GR owners out there want to take a pic of their dial and post it up?

AFAIK the dials on GR are the same as GPX APART from the red line band which shows higher on the GPX.

Yep, i'm sure, there are slight subtle differences due to the limit point but the numbers are in the same position. Guess when they where making the dials they decided on lets say the mivec version first and then just altered it to suit the non mivec, instead of designing a new dial....cheaper i guess (oh and any aftermarket kit i've seen are the same)

Somethings not quite right there teamally, the GR redline is 500rpm below the GPX.

8000rpm is too low for the limiter to kick in on a GPX and 8500rpm is way too high for the limiter to kick in on the GR. Its usually the other way around.

The red line mark on the dials is def lower on the GR - the mivec tends to rev up to 8500rpm - I've owned both GR and GPX and I've driven loads others and theres no question in my mind as to which revs higher.

My old GR was 7500 and the GPX was 8000. Unless something happened on the newer models!
