Thats what I thought it might be too, but wanted to make sure before I order a new set, I thought it was the drop links that are ment to be weak but they seem fine, as long as it's the silver bar that's attached to the strut.

yes thats your ARB. Iv never seen that go on a car before! A 2nd hand one will be cheap enough but i would definitely get under the car and have a good poke around to see if any other parts are corroded before ordering it

Is sure is the anti roll bar and it must have taken some force to break it. Never seen that before except on a rally car. Does not look that rusty though

It went as I was going round a round about, wasn't even going hard, but heard it go.
I was looking on the net for a replacement but are hard to find, only product seems to be one made but whiteline as an upgrade, anyone got one fitted?
Is fitting a new ARB a jack her up in the driveway job or not?

pm steelroe -he should have a second hand one. Yes jack up in the driveway will do although ramps would be a bit comfier :lol:

It might handle a bit oddly but it will be fine so long as you dont go mad. Definitely a job to do sooner rather than later though.

you would have to remove the link and broken piece of bar. should be fine if you take it easy.

I wopuld suggest if you are changing the bar to change the 2 links and arb bushings aswell.

Never seen or heard of an antiroll bar snapping before (that's why I wasn't 100%) - as has already been sugested - make sure to get under the car and check everything else out

Judging from the look of your Anti Roll bar it must have caught on something on the road - can't believe if it failed that it would have contorted like that. As its the lowest hanging point of the suspension it would be the first thing to get in the way of any material (rocks etc) on the road.

The ARB is only pointing up like that for the purpose of the photos it was just hanging just off the floor when I notice it from a distance and clanged afew times of speed bumps, looking at the marks on the thing it must of come into contact with a few things in the past.

jacked her up in drive tonight only managed to get the passenger side removed (the short bit in the photos).
But the rest I can't seem to move at all :x

You need to support the engine and gear box, remove the strut which runs front to bakc and has gearbox mountings on it.

Then you need to remove the bolts on the subframe and drop it down as far as you can. If you disconnect the front suspension arms it may drop right down, I cant really remember. The ARB bolts onto the subframe so once it is dropped down you should be able to get to the mountings.

I'm going to take the easy option and get a mechanic to do it on Thursday.
From the sound of that it's going to take a wee while to do, got new front lower arm and rear lower arm bushes to be done at the same time, as the ride seems a bit stiff.
But that might be down to the 18"s.

IMO, 18's don't help the ride at all in the FTO, bear in mind that new bushes will stiffen up the ride further as well as sorting out any sloppiness in the handling. Don't forget to get the suspension properly aligned after having the work done.

As I've only bought it and this extra work being done, I'll have to keep it on 18's for a bit, but have to say the 18"s off a RX8 that I have looks well on the fto.

That's a Link for a web page that the previous owner made, the pics are abit better, and the shocks and springs look standard, as far as I can see, but from these pics with these rims it don't look too bad.

Forgot that in that pic the front was jacked up thats why it looks like a 4x4 :)
