Veilside Body Kit

Postby Diddler » Tue Aug 03, 2004 3:06 pm

People,

FYI.......

I was looking into buying a veilside body kit for my 97 FTO GR. I am subscribed to a few newsletter and received 1 from Besecure2000. I thought i'd take a look to see if they had any kits?!!

To my amazement I found the beautifully crafted Veilside kit, Even more amazing was the price

For the complete kit your talking about €3340.84????????????? Wat da f..?

If anyone's even interested in putting a body kit on their machine - You'd seriously need to import from england!

I cant get over the comparison between it on their site and the 1 on www.FunkyProducts.co.uk - which is also given in euro and costs just €1259.93

Any Views???

The kit on Funky is a copy, I could imagine a real VS kit would in fact cost over €3k. Ask your Irish source if their kit is the real deal. We've all learned that theres no point in buying kit over here, its just too expensive! Personaly, I havn't purchased a part for my current FTO in this country, its so much cheaper to source most parts from the UK. Old rip off Ireland at its best, eh?

Ireland is currently rip off central - I was amazed at how much cheaper Rome was than Dublin. I have developped quite an intense loathing for the current rip off culture over here and to be honest if I was younger and with no ties I'd be considering a move to the UK.......

Thats crazy money for an FTO body kit - does it include fitment / painting etc ?

If you have a 97 FTO and the new style front then why would you want to change from that ? - theres very few around - better to spend your bucks on a Version R rear spoiler - a trick set of wheels and tyres - a leather interior - and still have plenty of change from that veilside price.

I know what you mean, The version on Funky products is in fact a copy but anyone who's decent at body work can fit the copy and it looks magnificent.

A friend of mine put a VS Copy on his civic for under €1200.00 and its a sweet lookin machine.

Wee question 4 u,

Cause i'm a newbie and i can get away with askin this i might as well.

I bought my FTO, which is of course a jap import. Restricted to 180 KPH (112 MPH) but coming home from drogheda 1 day i was with my 2 bros who where in a Celica and a Cavalier. The 1 in the Cavalier was sitting at 115mph and the celica was sitting at 120mph and i left them both 4 dust....??

How could i tell if she's been de-restricted?

Ahh - Ok then!

Still I'd personally prefer the bozz speed front with the DC side skirts.
Theres too many VS civics, celica's and MR2's doing the rounds.

On the de-restriction - My limiter seems to come in well after the supposed 112MPH limit - at around 125MPH I would say - the limiter kicks in and the car slows to 115MPH (guess). I know the speedo is probably not that accurate at these speeds - but its certainly travelling faster than 112MPH when the limiter comes in.

I think however I'll be leavin my limiter where it is as I don't fancy having the temptation of 140MPH under my right foot.

IIRC, the limiter kicks in @ 121mph and drags you back down to 112mph so you're not far off.

Thats exactly what happens, and if you keep the pedal pressed you still go down to 112 but as soon as it reaches 112 you go back up to 120 and it happens all over again.

That will be the price for the real deal, there are several places in england you can get a copy from like funky and pow-r ect but there all around the same price anyway. only problem with the copy is that its made from fiberglass, (where as the real deal is made from plastic) and with the state of the roads in this country it can crack very easily.
